Office Assistant 1 (Stores/Mail)

Duties may include, but are not limited to:
o Receive, store, distribute and/or ship USDA foods, commodities, and other items upon request; o Locate and pick products by code, name, pack date and/or best buy date, and move appropriate amounts to an assembly or staging area; o Palletize orders into compact shipments for customer pickup; o Load and unload trailers as directed; o Verify item counts against Bills of Lading and/or order forms; o Maintain accurate warehouse inventory records; o Assist in conducting inventories of USDA foods; o Operate of a variety of material handling equipment; o Maintain records and perform routine preventative maintenance; o Assist in keeping all facility areas clean and safe. Operational Needs:
o Possession and maintenance of a valid Driver's License issued by the NYS Department of Motor Vehicle is required. Operation of a motor vehicle may be required. o Ability to bend, lift, climb, stand, and walk for long periods of time. o Ability to lift a minimum 45 pounds. o Ability to operate a variety of materials handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks. Successful completion of OSHA forklift training and certification is required. o Obtain and maintain certification in CPR and comply with established safety procedures. o Flexibility to work in environments of fluctuating temperatures including limited periods outside, year-round. o May be required to respond to emergencies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Note:
Once appointed to/selected for the position, random drug testing will be required for this agency sensitive position.

Salary Range:
From $31245 to $38651 Annually
Minimum Qualification
CURRENT STATE EMPLOYEES:
Current New York State employee with one year or more of permanent, contingent-permanent or 55b/c service as an Office Assistant 1 (Stores/Mail); OR current New York State employee with one year or more of permanent, contingent-permanent or 55b/c service in a position allocated to a Grade 6 or above and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law. NOTE:

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
